Shaming the selfie
One day deep into the second or third lockdown, I posted a selfie on my blog.
Since I rarely left the house during lockdown, my go-to outfit was usually workout wear, or lounge ware. Typically I picked a tank top and leggins, maybe a sweater if it was cold. After all, we were forbidden to do anything or go anywhere, so why bother worrying about wardrobe?
I spent most of my quarantine days at home surrounded by family, all of whom were dressed in similar casual clothes.
The mood to take a selfie came on suddenly while I was typing into my blog. So I took my phone into my hand and activated the timer, then leaned it against a jar on the counter. Once the timer countdown was ready, I hunched over slightly to align my face with the camera, and smiled.
Click went the camera and my selfie was ready.
I liked the selfie so I published it to the blog that same day. The article I was working on was about a crowdfunding idea I was experimenting with, which I described in the post and supplemented with the selfie.
Later that day, I checked for comments. I have an actively engaged blog and looked forward to commentary about my crowdfunding post.
