Premise:

Midlife men (GenX, Boomer), divorced or separated, heterosexual, looking for long term relationships. FWB not desired. Apps exclude Tinder.

Quote

“The last couple of women I dated and established at least a brief relationship with ended with a soft, passive whimper. No big theatrical breakups, tears, or verbal spewing regrets. It seems when people are done it’s understood there’s no need for lengthy explanations. People move on. I believe this is because of the availability of potential dates on online dating apps — it makes us disposable.”

Are people bringing realistic expectations into the new relationship, knowing the next swipe is literally in the palm of their hand at any given moment?

Looking for the last first kiss

People who use dating apps appear to have a somewhat transient attention span. With all the untapped experiences lurking in the apps, their focus (to find the ‘last first kiss’) feels arbitrary and fickle.

  • Should I invest emotionally in her?
  • Maybe there’s someone else who checks even more boxes?
  • What if I’m settling?
